Police shoot dog during drug raid

Lubbock police assisting the DEA in a drug raid shot a pit bull defending the property. Animal control was contacted and the dog was killed in an unknown method.

Fascinatingly enough, no mention of whether drugs were found, arrests made, if Lubbock is somehow safer from the real threat of drugs.

One of the bullets ricocheted and hit a woman in the collarbone, leaving bullet fraagments permanently embedded in her body. She is okay.

Some articles mentioned the dog was shot as well but is expected to survive.

Beaumont police shoot dog at park

Two dogs who had been dumped by their owner two days prior to this attack were running loose. They engaged in a fight with a leashed dog and redirected onto the owner when he attempted to help his dog. Police were flagged down. The man was able to fling his dog over a wall and began climbing the wall as well, with one of the dogs still biting him. When he was safely over and police arrived, one dog was shot and killed, while the other ran off and was confiscated by animal control.

In a strange statement, authorities claim the owner might be charged.

A bit of background:
- The dogs have a history of getting loose.
- Apparently the owners just expect police to round up their dogs every time this happens, as according to the family, that's what they've done in the past.

Arlington police officer shoots loose dog at school playground

Two neighborhood dogs escaped via a hole in a fence.

The dogs wandered about. At some point, witnesses claim the large dog lunged at two people. Police were called. The dogs ended up wandering close to a school and, at some point, ended up on school grounds.

There were no outside witnesses, other than police and animal control, who both claim the larger dog approached an officer aggressively. The dog was shot and is expected to recover. The female dog ran back home. No word on whether the owner will be charged for the dogs getting out.

Police shoot at two dogs

Two dogs were shot at by a police officer in Denton, Texas. One dog was described as a pit bull, the other dog was unknown. The police officer was responding to a non-dog call when the dogs approached him. Although he had pepper spray available, he chose to shoot at the dogs instead. It is unknown if the dogs were actually shot.

TX: Family grieve death of friendly dog

Police in Texas responded to an auto-alarm at an apartment two houses down from where an 8-yr-old pit bull resided. For some reason, the police cruiser pulled up in the driveway of the home with the dog. The dog got out and approached the car. The owner immediately grabbed the dog and put him back in the house.

Located only four feet away, the owner was not given a chance to grab his dog before an officer opened fire, shooting once, pausing then shooting three more times.

The dog was hit by all four bullets. At least one bullet struck the house next door.

The shooting is being reviewed.

Off-duty police officer shoots dogs

A Dallas officer will not face charges for the shooting death of one of two pit bulls. The two dogs had gotten loose. The off-duty officer's wife felt threatened by the loose dogs and called her husband. Neighbors were able to coax the dogs away but not confine them. When the off-duty officer arrived, the dogs were still loose. Witnesses claim that one of the dogs approached the officer in a non-threatening manner, but the guy shot the dog anyways.

Previous story:

Two dogs got loose from their backyard. At some point, they frightened a woman when they approached her and she felt threatened. She called her husband, a Dallas police officer (off duty), who rushed to the scene. Of course, before he arrived, neighbors had been able to lure the dogs away from the frightened woman who was never bitten, scratched, jumped on or injured.

The dogs were still loose when the off-duty police officer arrived. When one of the dogs trotted towards him in a non-threatening manner (according to witnesses), he pulled out his gun and shot the dog six times, killing her. The other dog was safely transported to animal control.

The owner of the dog plans on filing a complaint. The officer did fire a loaded weapon in the middle of a residential street where several people were present.
